Diapers

I've become a part time cloth diapering mama. I wouldn't even classify it as part time, more a quarter of the time. I read this post, and it inspired me to try cloth diapering, which is something I had wanted to do when I was pregnant, but quickly abandoned when I actually had a newborn and saw how many diaper changes  poop came out of this little boy.

One thing I learned, that I didn't read anywhere in my research, is that cloth diapers have to be changed more often than disposables. Colin developed  a bad rash from having his cloth diapers on too long, so instead of investing more money in buying more cloth diapers ( i bought 6 to start), I decided to just use them around the house. Check out Colin in his cute BumGenius cloth diapers:
He's still got the baby fat on his thighs, I won't be upset if it stays forever!

And since we're talking about diapers.... for a while now, I've been flushing Colin's business down the toilet, instead of throwing the whole thing in the diaper pail. I found that his dirty diapers were just too stinky, even for the diaper pail. I've started to involve Colin in this process. Whenever he has a "stinky diaper" which I say in my best "stinky" voice, Colin will now on his own walk into the bathroom and to the toilet. He waits for me to take off his diaper and then we dump his said stinky in the toilet and wave bye bye to it. While Colin is still too young for potty training, I think this association is a good starting point for him to understand where his "stinkies" go!

Colin's First Kiss

Lately, Colin has been very generous with his kisses. If he's not busy with something else, if you ask for one, he will freely give it, usually by Puckering out his bottom lip. It is so cute and wonderful to get his kisses. Today, as Colin and I were leaving our baby yoga class, he had his first kiss with a little girl in the class. We were walking out the door, and I told him to say good bye to a little girl named Zoe. Instead of his usual good bye, he walked straight up to her, puckered his lower lip and leaned in...she was a bit older ( maybe 2 1/2) so she quickly assesed the gesture, then leaned in herself and they kissed right on the lips. It was the cutesy thing EVER, I wish I had captured that on camera!

Happy Mother's Day

Especially to my mom, who I love more and more everyday.... and to Evan's mom and my mother in law, Lydia, who I wish could celebrate with us, but we will see you very soon!

Colin loves both of his grandmothers very much!

I love being this little guy's Mom!!

Wedding Season

On Friday, I traveled to the Dominican Republic for Kaci's wedding. Evan had to work so I did the trip solo. Colin was left in the good hands of my cousin Stephanie, my Dad and Evan ( when he wasn't working). It was a beautiful wedding and I had a ton of fun in the sun. Here is a picture of me with the bride-
I was a bridesmaid
This is the first of three weddings that I have in the next month. In fact, we have a lot of trips coming up! Evan has this week off, so on Wednesday we are all heading down to Palm Beach to spend a few days with the Schad and Godin families. At the end of May, I'll head up to Jacksonville for Jennifer's wedding at the TPC Sawgrass. Colin and my mom will come with me since Evan is working ( again!). We might turn the trip into an extended vacation and go to Savannah and St. Augustine. The beginning of June, I'm headed to Chicago for one night for Amy and Vince's wedding, hopefully Evan can make that trip, it's still up in the air. And then finally we will travel to Texas for the family reunion. I'm looking forward to it all!

I enjoy spending time with friends and of course traveling to new places, but I missed Evan and Colin ALOT so I was happy to come home!
