His 9th month

Colin is a few days away from 10 months old. I spent the first few months waiting for him to get bigger. Now I'm done with him ageing, he can stay my little baby boy forever!
Before we move on to month 10, here is a recap of his 9th month:

- Still eating 3 solid meals a day, loves feeding himself avocados
- Has 4 bottles a day, sometimes 5 if he wakes up early or in the middle of the night, which he's been doing more of lately unfortunately
- is a crawling machine, he esp loves to crawl with things in his hand, he'll pick up whatever interests him for the minute and take it along with him as he crawls around
- has started shaking his head "no" ALOT, not sure if he knows what it means or he's just mimicking us
- points to things with his index finger
- no words YET
- has learned how to use the straw in one of his sippy cups
- takes 2 naps a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon
- enjoys bike rides in his bike trailer
- pulls himself up on everything and glides along furniture
- he is very curious, i call him my little explorer, he wants to get into everything!
- has finally started to like books, he will sit in my lap now as I read him a book vs just wanting to eat it and close it
- only gets his pacifier when he's in his crib or is napping in his carseat
- no new teeth, he has 2 on the bottom and 4 up top
- has better spatial awareness, he'll crawl to the edge of the bed and know that he will fall if he goes any further
- loves his music class at Gymborree, loves staring at all the other babies in class

I'm sure there's so much more, but that's all I can think of right now. Here is my attempt at his 9 month photos, it's getting harder and harder for me to have him cooperate!

Fall Wardrobe

Momfession: I LOVE to dress Colin, he's like my little doll. I love going up to his room and picking out what he is going to wear that day. I save all my favorite outfits for play dates or when I know we're going somewhere we'll be seen. He's still pretty cute on the down days too. Here is one of our down days..
baby cargo pants make mommy swoon!

"yes mama, I'm cute, get over it and put that camera away already"

Sunday

Colin and I went to church on Sunday with my mom. Regretfully, I had not been to church since Colin was born! It was nice to go back again. I left Colin in the nursery of the church and he did great! He was there just over an hour and the nursery attendant said she had no problems, he just played the entire time, no tears. I was not suprised but it still made me very happy and relaxed that we can start making church part of our routine again!
Here's a shot of Colin and I after church.
Evan was making rounds at the hospital. He met us afterwards for a nice lunch at the Wine Exchange. We sat outside and it was beautiful weather. As long as I bring plenty of things to keep Colin busy, he does great in restaurants. He'll sit in the high chair the whole time and I usually feed him off my plate along with a lunch of baby food that I'll bring with me.
After church, Colin and I headed to the grocery store for some shopping for Sunday night dinner. He is my favorite shopping buddy!
So cute in his corduroy overalls!

It was a really nice Sunday.

Saturday

Colin was invited to an Old McDonald themed 1st birthday party. So I couldn't resist putting him in some overalls and a cowboy/farmer hat...
For fun, Evan put on a Stetson for a family picture...
Later that day, Evan met one of his friends at a clay shooting range out at Fishhawk Ranch. Colin and I watched from a distance while lounging in the grass. I think this was the first time Colin got to crawl around in the grass, which he liked immensely.

My Little Pumpkin!

Since I've stopped working, I have more time for cooking. This means more trips to the grocery store and more time to be able to stop at many different stores to get what I want...one of my favorite "stores" is the Bearss Groves vegetable stand. Right now, they also have a pumpkin patch so when I stopped by to pick up  a few things for dinner tonight, I snapped the obligatory baby in a pumpkin patch shots. Behold, baby in the pumpkin patch!

Hair Cut!

On Saturday night, Colin got his 3rd haircut. It was time, but the barber Evan cut it a bit too short this time. It is also slightly uneven as Colin was wiggling and screaming as Evan did it. He must not have liked the sound of the clippers....

The good thing is that it's just hair, and it will grow back!

A fall play date

Today we went to a fun playdate at Lyndsay's house. She had a big group of mom's and babies come over for a halloween photo shoot with her neighbor who is a photographer. I can't wait to see some of the shots she got, but for now here are some shots I got with my camera.
Nice Combed Hair!

I wish

I had my camera for the following things yesterday....

I bought baby Tom's for Colin yesterday and he looked so damn cute in them! I immediately had him wear them at the mall and he got about 10 compliments on them.

The way Colin leaned into my chest yesterday when I had him in his baby bjorn, I covered him in kisses as we strolled through the mall and it was like he just leaned back and surrendered to the kisses.

When Colin reached out at the bubbles with his Index finger for the first time instead of using his whole hand.

With it comes anticipation of a lot of firsts for Colin. Halloween is around the corner and his costume is all ready!

Here is a shot of him in his pumpkin jammies.

Today, a diary

Here's a glimpse into our Thursday.

Colin awoke around 7:45am. His night went fairly well. He went down at the usual 7:30-8pm bedtime but randomly woke up at 10:30 and would not go back to sleep, so I fed him at 11pm and he went back to sleep until morning. I think this extra feeding was a result of him not fully finishing his 12pm bottle that day...
Next Colin has his morning bottle while I take a shower ( I bring his chair into the bathroom with me).
Breakfast time! Colin eats a WHOLE banana that he feeds himself and a Yo Baby yogurt that I feed him.
Oooh...and we're entertained by Opa who is quite dramatic in the mornings. This particular morning he greets me with a yelp from his bedroom to take him to the hospital because he hasn't been able to shave...oh the ridiculousness sometimes of a 93 year old ( I take care of 2 babies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Opa being the 2nd and much less cute one)!

Lately, getting Colin a fresh diaper and dressed for the day is quite the task. Everytime I put him on his back to change him, he flips right over and tries to crawl away. I have to use my arsenal of "distraction weapons: to get this accomplished!

After  getting myself and Colin dressed and ready for the day, we're off to town. A stop at the bank, a side trip to Kalupa's bakery for some indulgences on Mommy's part and a trip to Features costume store, which is complete heaven. Colin is fascinated by all the amazing aislesa and aisles of costumes. I find a darling straw cowboy hat for $3 that will be perfect for his farmer theme birthday party he's been invited to later this month.

Thursdays also mean Music Class at Gymborree. I really look forward to taking Colin each week. He's getting more and more interactive during class e and loves playing grabbing  the other babies in the class.

We come home for a quick lunch for Mommy and to feed my other baby, Opa. Not literally, I prepare, he eats. Colin has some grapes to hold him over until his next stop at Grandmary's house. BUT before we are off to Grandmary's, I clean up a MASSIVE poop explosion without even getting it on the changing pad liner, virtual high five!!

Colin spends the afternoon at Grandmary's while I get some "free time". I had dreams all week of a baby free trip to the mall to add some much needed items to my fall wardrobe. However, back to reality, I really need a lot more energy for that so instead I stop at the Ross on my way back home. I did find some great boots and ballet flats for a steal. Mission slightly accomplished.
Next I go by the grocery store to pick up a few items for dinner. ( Aldi's I've said it before, you really are the best cheapest store EVER!...Publix, you are really the best!)

I come home and since I am baby free, I get to work cooking dinner. I make this recipe that Evan approved the night before. It was easy peasy.
Trying to cook while entertaining/watching a crazy crawler baby, not easy peasy.
Then I get a little bit more "me" time, and catch up on my new favorite fall show on ABC...Revenge. IT IS AWESOME!

Around 6pm, I pick up a happy Colin and we're back home in time for dinner. Colin has avocado that he feeds himself while I feed him some homemade sweet potatoes. he decides he'd rather feed it to himself. This ends up in a messy boy and high chair, so it's a good thing bath time follows!
This was taken a different night when Evan was home early for bathtime!

Colin likes to help Mommy draw the bath

I love bathtime!

Cutest booty ever!

Colin has started to "swim" in the bathtub, it's pretty darn cute and nice that he can entertain himself in there for a while. This usually gives me some time to sit down next to the bathtub and check emails etc. Sidenote, I really LOVE my IPAD.

After bathtime, Colin plays a for a bit in the room with me and then at about 7:45pm he finishes his last bottle of the day. I take him upstairs and get him in his jammies. Tonight I used his Little Pumkin Halloween jamies, I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

Then I come downstairs and get to eat my dinner and wait for Evan to come home...phew, it doesn't seem like much is accomplished but I'm usually pretty wiped at the end!!

Photo shoot at the Homestead

Check out our photos from our recent trip to the Homestead. I had scheduled the photographer for after his normal nap time so he'd be in his happy smiley mood...unfortunately he got off schedule and the session ended up being right before his nap!

Right this second

My dear friend Anna is in the hospital giving birth to her second baby, Clark. I don't have an update yet as to her status but I'm so excited I got tingles and almost cried last night just thinking of the joy of a new baby on the way. Of course, it makes me think of this little guy's entrance into the world..
Colin's Birth Day, he's total perfection.

It makes me think of those first few moments. when he cried the first time and I instantly cried in response. when the nurses exclaimed that he had dimples. when i finally got to see the little guy kicking me the last few months.

The first couple months of Colin's life were the hardest two months of my life, trying to adjust to such a change coupled with postpartum depression was no fun. But now that I've lived through it and have Colin in my life, I'd definitely do it over again. I dare say that lately when I see a newborn I feel that itch. ( this disappears though when I see a mom with 2 kids under 2, that looks tough!!)

I can't wait to meet little Clark when I visit Anna the end of this month.  Happy Birthday Clark!
